Mini was designed by Sir Alec Issigonis and was released to the public on August 26, 1959. Thought the years the Mini shot to stardom and became a fashion accessory to a lot of people. Its success is mainly due to surprising performance on rally courses and the exposure to F1 driver John Cooper. Today Mini is owned by BMW so that is saying something.
