BMW, also know as Bayerische Motoren Werke, or simply Bavarian Motor Works is the highly successful autobahn burner. No matter where you live in the world, chances are you recognize the BMW brand. It is advertised as being the “Ultimate Driving Machine.” When you were a kid you dreamt of having one, and when you are an adult you try to convince your wife to trade in the minivan for one. However BMW was not always in the business of making automobiles. BMW actually started out as a manufacturer of aircraft engines in 1913 and slowly made the transition to making motorcycles and cars in 1928.
