Acura History & New Models
Acura automobiles has been around for 20 years. 2006 is their 20th anniversary of being in business in the Japanese market. Acura is of course known as the first Japanese car automaker to sell a range of luxury performance cars to the United States which it started doing in 1986.
Acura has been big into research and development with their cars, coming up with some intuitive models, designs and technologies only available to the Acura car range. Things like Super Handling All Wheel Drive and Variable Valve Timing and Lift Electronic Control have set Acura apart from the mass of other Japanese car manufacturers.
Acura is best known for it’s Legend luxury series and its sporty Integra models. Within only a couple of years, Acurca became the best selling luxury performance import car in the United States. Acura’s R&D and technology is what makes their cars top of the line.
The Drive-by-wire Throttle System is a sophisticated electronic system that is usually only associated with sports cars and professional racing cars. One of their main safety features that has won them awards globally is their “Advanced Compatibility Engineering” which builds crash protection right into the frame of the car.
Acura’s most popular models of car were the Legend luxury sports performance vehicle and the NSX sports coupe which some have said is the best sports car that has ever been built. Right now they have 6 brand new models in the market place. They are the RL, TL, TSX, RSX, MDX, RDX.
These range from 2 door sport cars, family sedans, luxury vehicles and SUV’s. Prices start at around $23,000 US all the way up to $49,000 US.
Acura also plays a big role in professional sports racing. They have now started building cars specifically for the 2007 American Le Mans series. While they have participated in other race events, they have never really had the success they were looking for yet.
Acura also offers discounts for disabled drivers. Their new program, Acura Mobility allows disabled customers to get $1000 off the price of their car so they can use that money to adapt the car to the customers needs.
